The initiative reflects the Authority’s vision to further develop its rapid response system and improve the efficiency of field operations. The new motorcycles are designed to support emergency teams in responding more effectively to incidents and expanding operational capabilities in locations where access may be challenging.
This step forms part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to adopt innovative solutions and utilise the latest technologies and operational methods to protect lives and property while improving field performance. The specialised motorcycles are intended to support firefighting and rescue teams during the initial stages of incidents and are particularly effective in areas that are difficult for larger fire trucks to access, including narrow streets and congested zones.
The motorcycles are equipped with an advanced range of field equipment that enables rapid response teams to take immediate action upon arrival. Each unit features two 25-litre side tanks and a high-pressure hose, allowing crews to tackle small fires in their early stages. They also include a high-pressure sprayer that enhances the effectiveness of initial firefighting efforts and helps contain fires before the arrival of heavy firefighting equipment.
His Excellency Brigadier General Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, said the Authority continues to implement a strategic vision focused on developing field operations and enhancing operational capabilities through investment in modern technologies and innovative solutions that improve response speed and intervention effectiveness. He noted that the introduction of these specialised motorcycles represents an important addition to the Authority’s resources and supports efforts to respond to various incidents more efficiently, in line with international best practices in emergency prevention and response.
He added that the motorcycles combine rapid mobility with specialised field equipment, enabling Civil Defence teams to carry out swift and effective interventions during the critical first minutes of an incident. This period is essential for minimising losses and protecting lives and property. He also emphasised the Authority’s commitment to maintaining high levels of readiness among personnel and equipment to keep pace with Sharjah’s urban and developmental growth and to continuously enhance services provided to the community.
The motorcycles are also equipped with oxygen cylinders and field support equipment, enabling teams to provide initial assistance during emergencies. In addition, they feature an integrated system of rotating warning lights and front and rear hazard lights to enhance safety while travelling and responding to incidents. Their high manoeuvrability allows them to navigate heavy traffic, narrow passages and other locations requiring rapid intervention, making them a practical and effective asset for first-response operations and reducing emergency response times.
The introduction of the rapid intervention motorcycles underscores the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority’s commitment to continuously developing its field capabilities and adopting the most effective operational solutions to strengthen emergency response efficiency. It also reflects the Authority’s determination to keep pace with technological advancements and leverage modern capabilities to build an advanced civil defence system capable of addressing a wide range of challenges, thereby enhancing quality of life and reinforcing safety and security across the Emirate of Sharjah.
