Sharjah 24: Brigadier General Yousef Obaid Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, announced a decline in the number of incidents and fires recorded across Sharjah during May 2026, attributing the improvement to preventive, awareness, and inspection programmes carried out in cooperation with strategic partners.

Strategic performance indicators reflect success of proactive safety measures

Al Shamsi said the authority’s strategic performance indicators for May reflect the success of proactive safety measures and field initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety and protecting lives and property. He noted that the authority continues to strengthen its prevention and safety system through an institutional approach focused on raising community awareness and promoting safe practices.

Coordinated efforts and joint inspection programmes drive positive results

He added that the positive results were achieved through coordinated efforts between Civil Defence teams and partner entities, including targeted awareness campaigns, intensified joint inspection programmes, enhanced preventive monitoring of facilities, and ongoing field patrols to ensure compliance with safety requirements.

Authority commits to ongoing investments in public safety and operational readiness

Al Shamsi stressed that the authority will continue investing in public awareness, inspections, and operational readiness as key pillars for maintaining safety achievements and further improving public safety standards across the emirate.
