Sharjah 24 – AFP: Real Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of defender Ibrahima Konaté on a four-year deal. The French center-back moves to the Santiago Bernabéu on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Liverpool.

In an official statement, the Spanish giants announced that they had reached an agreement for the defender to become a Real Madrid player for the next four seasons, tying him to the club until June 30, 2030.

The 27-year-old originally joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021, going on to make 183 appearances during a highly successful stint on Merseyside. Throughout his time in England, Konaté proved to be a vital asset, helping the Reds secure the 2022 FA Cup and the 2025 Premier League title alongside other major silverware.

Currently away on international duty with France at the World Cup, Konaté will join a Madrid side undergoing a massive summer transformation. The squad has already been heavily reinforced by the high-profile arrival of José Mourinho as manager, as well as the marquee signings of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella and Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva.

This aggressive squad overhaul comes after Los Blancos endured two consecutive seasons without a major trophy. The club is reportedly not done yet, having also been strongly linked with Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries. This defensive restructuring has also seen veterans Dani Carvajal and David Alaba leave the club at the end of their contracts, while fellow center-back Antonio Rüdiger has renewed his commitment to the Bernabéu until 2027.
