Real Madrid, runners-up in Spain's La Liga, have reached an agreement with English club Chelsea to sign Cucurella in a deal worth $63 million, according to media reports on Sunday.
The 27-year-old left-back joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2022 after progressing through Barcelona's academy and later moving to Getafe.
Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez appointed Portuguese coach José Mourinho, 63, as the club's head coach this week. Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013 and was appointed after Pérez's re-election earlier this month, following two seasons without a major trophy.
The Spanish giants are also preparing to sign French defender Ibrahim Konaté from Liverpool when his contract with the English club expires. Reports have also linked Real Madrid with Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva, who is currently unattached, and Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan.
Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League last season after a disappointing campaign, and Cucurella criticised the club's decision to dismiss Italian coach Enzo Maresca in January.
Cucurella, who had two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, won the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League with Chelsea in 2025.
