Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Zafar said the exhibition explores the poetics of memory and examines how the human body can be represented indirectly through familiar objects, spaces and symbols.
“The show explores themes around decay, the poetics of memory and how a body can be represented without showing it directly,” Zafar said.
He explained that the artworks draw on everyday objects and experiences, transforming them through different artistic mediums while maintaining a sense of familiarity. According to Zafar, the exhibition uses abstraction to evoke memories and places that visitors may recognise from their own lives.
“We hope people take the time to look closely at the exhibition and try to understand and decode the deeper meanings embedded within the works,” he added.
Zafar affirmed that he is presenting five paintings in the exhibition, while artist Laila Majid is showcasing seven works spanning photography and sculpture.
