Sharjah 24 – WAM: In the presence of Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, President of the Republic of Chad, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, attended the opening of the UAE–Chad Trade and Investment Forum in Abu Dhabi.

The ceremony was also attended by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Victoire Tomegah Dogbé, Prime Minister of Togo; Mohamed Lamine Zeine, Prime Minister of Niger; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; and several Chadian ministers and senior officials.

Launch of Chad’s national development plan

During the opening, President Idriss Déby announced the launch of Chad Connection 2030, the country’s national development plan aimed at boosting global trade and investment openness, stimulating economic growth, and advancing comprehensive development.

UAE’s commitment to African partnerships

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening long-term development partnerships with African nations, emphasizing the strong ties between the UAE and Chad since establishing diplomatic relations in 1973.

He highlighted that, under the leadership’s vision, the UAE continues to play a strategic role in supporting Africa’s development goals by enhancing cooperation across vital sectors, believing that investment in sustainable development benefits future generations and promotes global prosperity.

Showcasing development opportunities

During the forum, Chad presented its development priorities and strategic projects under Chad Connection 2030, encompassing 268 initiatives across energy, infrastructure, and industry. The event also showcased Chad’s financial, customs, and regulatory incentives designed to attract both local and international investors.
