Coexistence, and Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, attended MALAYALOTSAVAM, marking the 70th anniversary of Kerala’s formation at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. The event drew over 5,000 members of the Malayali community and several dignitaries, including Saji Cherian, Kerala’s Minister for Culture, Dr. Deepak Mittal, Indian Ambassador to the UAE, and businessman Yusuf Ali M.A.

Shared values and deep ties

In his address, Sheikh Nahyan praised the historic relationship between Kerala, India, and the UAE, emphasizing shared values of peace, progress, and mutual respect. He lauded the Malayali community’s contributions to the UAE’s development, describing them as an integral part of the nation’s social and cultural fabric.

He also commended Dr Mittal and Yusuf Ali for their roles in strengthening economic and cultural ties, and highlighted Kerala’s excellence in education and sustainable development as models for progress.

Celebrating unity in diversity

Sheikh Nahyan noted that Kerala’s diversity reflects that of the UAE, where people of many nationalities live together harmoniously. He reaffirmed that under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE continues to advance with compassion and inclusivity.

Kerala’s achievements highlighted

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan thanked Sheikh Nahyan for his support and hospitality, noting that the UAE’s commitment to tolerance and coexistence inspires communities worldwide. He highlighted the strong partnership between Kerala and the UAE, emphasizing cooperation in investment, education, and technology.

Marking 70 years of Kerala’s progress

The celebration showcased seven decades of Kerala’s achievements in culture, agriculture, and industry through performances and community programs promoting cross-cultural understanding. Kerala Day (Kerala Piravi) is celebrated annually on November 1 to mark the state’s formation in 1956.
