Speaking to Sharjah 24, Sheikha Nawar Al Qasimi explained that the Photography Gallery building, which officially opened on Saturday, was originally a communications center serving the surrounding community. Located in the Al Manakh district, near Kuwait Roundabout, the structure has been restored and transformed into a dedicated photography hub — part of the Foundation’s ongoing vision to revitalize historical sites and convert them into active spaces for art and culture.
Sheikha Nawar noted that the building houses exhibition halls, a darkroom, workshop and event spaces, and a photography studio, all designed to support creative exploration and community engagement. She invited photography and architecture enthusiasts to visit the gallery and discover more about the Foundation’s restoration and cultural initiatives.
The Photography Gallery currently features two exhibitions: “Photographic Narratives Along the Gulf Coasts” — a permanent exhibition showcasing historical photographs and archival materials, and “Guardians of Images” — featuring works by 17 artists from the Sharjah Art Foundation’s collection, running until April 26, 2026.
