During the workshop, supervisor Akrama Al Jaljawi led the children on an engaging educational journey, explaining how sunlight is converted into electrical energy and then into mechanical energy to power the small car. This is achieved by attaching a solar panel to the engine and focusing the light onto it.
Understanding the fundamentals of sustainable energy
Al Jaljawi explained that the workshop helps children understand the fundamentals of sustainable energy and its various applications through hands-on experience. He noted that the experience sparks their curiosity and encourages them to ask questions about energy sources and how to utilise them in the future. The workshop saw great interaction from school students aged 8 to 12, who were engaged in experimenting with different scenarios for their solar-powered car models in an atmosphere of collaboration and learning.
