Sharjah 24: The House of Poetry in Sharjah hosted a poetic evening on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, featuring poets Abdullah Al Khudair, Yazan Issa, and Abdullah Al Anzi, in the presence of Mohammed Abdullah Al Buraiki, Director of the House of Poetry, along with a distinguished audience of critics, poets, and literature enthusiasts.

The evening was moderated by Souad Shreidi, who began by expressing gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his ongoing support of cultural and creative initiatives. She praised Sharjah’s role as a lighthouse of the Arabic language and creativity, offering a nurturing platform for poets and thinkers from across the Arab world.

The event showcased Sharjah’s ongoing dedication to preserving and promoting Arabic poetry while celebrating the diverse voices shaping contemporary literature.

An evening of poetic expression

The evening started with Dr Abdullah Al Khudair, who praised Sharjah’s cultural leadership and paid tribute to its Ruler for supporting poetry and the arts. His readings centred on themes of belonging, creative passion, and the beauty of language as a link between heritage and innovation.

Yazan Issa contributed reflective pieces that explore human experience, memory, and the emotional landscape of distance and longing. His poetry delves into the relationship between tradition and modernity, drawing on Arab poetic heritage while offering a contemporary voice.

The session concluded with Abdullah Al Anzi, whose readings combined imagination, emotion, and depth, portraying the poet’s search for identity and meaning. He also dedicated a special piece to His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, celebrating his role as a patron of literature and enlightenment.

Honouring creativity and poetic excellence

At the end of the evening, Mohammed Al Buraiki, Director of the House of Poetry, honoured the participating poets, thanking them for their contributions to Sharjah’s literary scene. He reaffirmed that the House of Poetry continues to serve as a cultural bridge, connecting generations of poets, preserving the Arabic poetic tradition, and encouraging innovation and artistic dialogue.

This event is part of the House of Poetry’s ongoing efforts to promote literary appreciation, reinforce cultural identity, and support the creative community across the Emirate of Sharjah.
