“During the past night, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 193 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry said on Telegram.
The governor of Russia’s Bryansk region, Aleksandr Bogomaz, said a minibus was hit in the village of Pogar, killing the driver and injuring five passengers.
According to the Defense Ministry, 47 drones were destroyed over Bryansk, which borders Ukraine, and 40 drones were intercepted in the Moscow region, with most headed toward the capital.
Russia has maintained a near-continuous wave of drone and missile strikes, primarily targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, as the war approaches its fourth year since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Ukraine, in turn, has stepped up attacks on Russian oil refineries and energy facilities, striking deeper into Russian territory in recent months.
