The institute's Academic Department reviewed the proposed plan for academic and community cooperation between the two parties, which includes providing opportunities for people with disabilities to enrol in professional diplomas and partial qualifications offered by the institute, as well as implementing joint practical heritage workshops, documenting successful experiences, and publishing them in Al-Mawruth magazine, thereby highlighting their role in preservation.
Dr Khalid Al Shehi, Director of the Academic Department at SIH, stated that this collaboration reflects the directives of the institute's Chairman, Dr Abdulaziz Al Musallam, who aims to use heritage as a platform to improve community inclusion and empower all segments of society to contribute to the preservation of Emirati culture. He emphasised that people with disabilities are an important part of the UAE's cultural and human fabric.
This collaboration coincides with the Emirate of Sharjah's objective of creating an inclusive society based on justice and equal opportunity, as well as the institute's efforts to strengthen the ideals of partnership and social responsibility in the cultural heritage sector.
