A group from the Institute recently met with several university leaders. Among them were Professor Wu Jianxing, the University President; Professor Wang Shufeng, the Honorary Dean of the Institute of Intangible Cultural Heritage; Professor Wang Li, who oversees the International Affairs Office; and Professor Jiang Ting, the Deputy Director of the Department of Humanities. They also spoke with faculty members from the College of Tea Science and Culture.During their visit, the delegation toured various academic facilities and research centers focused on tea studies. They learned about programs and projects that aim to preserve the cultural traditions linked to tea growing, production, and its social importance in China.
Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam highlighted that his recent visit is part of the Institute's ongoing efforts to boost international partnerships and share knowledge with cultural and academic institutions worldwide. He emphasized that human heritage serves as a vital link for connecting different people and cultures. By collaborating with Zhejiang University, they aim to foster understanding and support projects that help preserve shared cultural memories.
He further explained that the Sharjah Institute for Heritage is focused on creating educational programs that blend research, teaching, and hands-on heritage work, which will lead to new opportunities for cooperation through knowledge exchange. International partnerships are key to the Institute's plan to strengthen Sharjah's presence globally in heritage and identity while promoting values of dialogue and openness to other cultures.
This visit reflects Sharjah's vision of using heritage as a way to connect people and create mutual understanding between the East and West. It also confirms the Institute's role as a recognised global centre for preserving and documenting intangible heritage. Additionally, it highlights Sharjah's leadership in supporting worldwide efforts to protect human heritage and encourage diversity and coexistence, aligning with its goal to make culture and heritage essential parts of development and a shared future.
