A message of knowledge and identity
In his keynote address, Dr Abdul Aziz Al Musallam highlighted the importance of this graduating cohort, calling it a milestone in the Institute’s academic journey. He reaffirmed that the celebration aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to build and empower national talent with education to preserve Emirati identity.
Dr Al Musallam stated: “Today we celebrate a qualified generation of our nation’s sons and daughters, carrying a noble mission to preserve the UAE’s cultural heritage and pass it on to future generations.” He emphasised that these graduates are the result of academic programmes that blend theory with practical training, reinforcing the role of heritage in education, employment, and innovation.
He also affirmed that the Institute remains committed to developing academic and professional programmes that equip national cadres with the tools needed to preserve cultural and human heritage.
Academic development and renewed curricula
Dr Khaled Al Shehhi, Director of the Academic Administration at the SIH, elaborated on the range of accredited qualifications offered, including areas such as administrative work in cultural and heritage institutions, collection and documentation of intangible cultural heritage, museum guidance, manuscript restoration and maintenance, and urban heritage programmes.
He stressed that the academic team continually updates its curricula to align with both national and international standards, ensuring the Institute remains at the forefront of modern heritage education.
The joy of crowning and achievement
Graduates shared their pride and joy in completing their academic journey. They described their time at the Institute as rich in both knowledge and practical experience, and expressed gratitude for belonging to an institution deeply rooted in promoting national identity and Emirati heritage. They also thanked the academic staff for fostering a creative and supportive learning environment.
Accreditation of academic qualifications
In closing, the Sharjah Institute for Heritage reaffirmed its dedication to pursuing official accreditation for all its academic and professional programmes through the Ministry of Education. This move supports its mission to strengthen its role as a leading institution in the field of cultural heritage and specialised education, both in the UAE and the wider region.
