The latest figures reaffirm the airport’s status as a major aviation hub both regionally and globally, highlighting its increasing attractiveness as a preferred gateway for travellers.
The airport experienced a significant increase in flight operations, with scheduled and unscheduled flights reaching a total of 30,737 movements, representing a 10.7% rise compared to 27,758 flights in the third quarter of 2024.
Total aircraft movements increased to 54,953, a rise of 4.3% from 52,695 flights in the same period last year.
Cargo operations showed robust growth, handling 48,073 tonnes — a 3.9% rise from 46,284 tonnes in Q3 2024. The sea-air freight sector performed exceptionally well, increasing by 32.8%, from 3,236 tonnes to 4,296 tonnes, emphasising Sharjah Airport’s expanding role in integrated logistics and multi-modal transport.
His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), remarked, “These results reflect Sharjah Airport’s continued operational growth and its vital role in supporting the aviation sector in line with the emirate’s long-term development goals.”
He further attributed the strong performance to continued infrastructure investment, capacity expansion, and digital transformation, which have collectively improved operational efficiency and the overall passenger experience.

The authority is actively expanding flight routes, upgrading cargo and logistics infrastructure, and introducing innovative digital solutions designed to deliver a seamless and efficient travel experience.
