Themes and artistic approach
The exhibition presented a series of paintings that depict scenes, situations, and portraits that engage viewers, inviting them to imagine the stories behind the artworks. These are tales of diverse human emotions, in which the artist employs the expressive power of colour to reflect psychological impressions.
Styles and influences
Iman Al Hakim explores multiple artistic directions and experiments with the impact of colour. Her works show a particular mastery in handling colour, with two prominent approaches evident:
The first group of paintings has an impressionistic dimension, portraying scenes from ancient Egyptian life, including family, work, crafts, and festive dances, alongside portraits of male and female pharaonic characters reminiscent of palace and temple wall paintings. These works celebrate the artist’s heritage and society, with colour conveying joy and cultural pride.
The second approach presents fantastical, untamed art connected to dreamlike emotions, expressing fear, anxiety, and anticipation of the unknown.
