Al Hammadi explained that the exhibition, organised by the Sharjah Environment and Protected Areas Authority as part of the 25th Sir Bu Nair Festival, is designed to offer an educational and interactive experience. Visitors can learn about the island’s history and explore its natural resources and conservation initiatives.
Al Hammadi told “Sharjah 24” that the exhibition includes a historical section illustrating the island’s former role as a safe haven for sailors during storms, as well as a geological section featuring mineral samples from the reserve, notably iron oxides. The exhibition also features visual and photographic displays and educational materials explaining the uniqueness of the island’s ecosystems.
She emphasised that the exhibition highlights the Authority’s key conservation efforts on the island, including coral reef cultivation, sea turtle protection, and regular beach and water clean-up campaigns. These initiatives contribute to habitat sustainability and enhance biodiversity.
Al Hammadi invited the public to visit the exhibition on Al Heera Beach during the festival to experience the displays up close and learn more about the island’s natural heritage and the ongoing conservation projects implemented by the Authority.
