Sharjah 24: Abdul Nasser Obaid Bukhatir, Director of the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre, announced the launch of the "Al-Daraa- The Shield" app during the centre’s participation in the Sharjah Government Pavilion at GITEX Technology Week 2025. He expressed pride in introducing this advanced cybersecurity tool designed to enhance digital safety for government employees.

A secure browser to protect government employees

In a statement to Sharjah 24, Bukhatir explained that Al-Daraa functions as an advanced web browser that protects users from digital fraud by detecting and alerting users when attempting to access suspicious websites resembling official government domains. The app aims to provide a secure working environment, enhancing credibility and trust in government digital operations.

A step toward stronger digital security

Bukhatir emphasised that the app's launch aligns with the Sharjah Government’s broader efforts to improve cybersecurity and establish a resilient digital environment. In light of growing cyber threats and increasingly complex attacks, Al-Daraa represents a proactive measure to mitigate risks and build trust in digital tools among government employees.

Raising awareness and Sharjah’s digital reputation

In addition to prevention, the app also aims to raise cybersecurity awareness across government sectors, ultimately improving the quality of digital services offered to citizens and residents. Bukhatir concluded by noting that Al-Daraa supports Sharjah’s vision of being a safe, smart, and secure digital hub in the region.
