Sharjah showcases innovation-driven luxury at GITEX 2025

Sharjah 24: His Excellency Dr Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, visited the Sharjah Government Pavilion at GITEX World 2025, which began on October 13 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The Minister reviewed the latest projects and initiatives presented by 20 participating government entities, reflecting Sharjah’s vision of building an integrated digital society focused on enhancing human well-being.

Spotlight on the Sharjah Digital Hackathon
During his visit, His Excellency toured the "Sharjah Digital Hackathon" space, an initiative by the Sharjah Digital Department in partnership with the Rubu' Qarn Science and Technology Centre and the Sharjah Youth Council. The hackathon encourages young innovators to develop AI-based solutions to enhance government services and quality of life. Projects presented covered areas such as traffic management, energy efficiency, and interactive platforms.

Dignitaries attend launch of future-driven projects
On the third day of the exhibition, the pavilion continued to draw notable figures from both public and private sectors. Visitors witnessed the launch of advanced technology projects that highlight Sharjah’s leadership in utilising AI and smart systems to provide people-centric government services.

Sharjah Police Launches “Aftercare Watch” Initiative
His Excellency Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, visited the pavilion along with His Excellency Judge Dr Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, His Excellency Brigadier General Yousef bin Harmoul Al Shamsi, and His Excellency Brigadier General Dr Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani. The delegation attended the launch of the “Aftercare Watch” project by Sharjah Police, a rehabilitation initiative for recovering addicts using smartwatches for continuous psychological and health monitoring. The project aligns with national goals to support mental and physical well-being and foster community cohesion.

Sharjah International Airport and du partner for Smart Passenger experience
His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority, and His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of the Authority, visited the pavilion to sign an agreement with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du). The agreement focuses on deploying 5G+ network technology to enhance the passenger experience. du CEO Fahad Al Hassawi also attended the signing.

Smart tourism system launches on Yango Maps
The pavilion also welcomed His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), and Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director of the Authority, who attended the launch of the Emirate’s new smart tourism system on Yango Maps—the first of its kind in the world. This AI-powered initiative transforms Sharjah’s digital map into an interactive platform designed to enrich visitor and resident experiences. The project aligns with Sharjah Tourism’s strategy to position the emirate as a future-ready, sustainable destination.

Cybersecurity strengthened through the “Al Daraa” Project
In the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Her Excellency Engineer Lamia Obaid Al Hussan Al Shamsi, and Engineer Abdul Nasser Bu Khatir, the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre launched the “Al Daraa- The Shield” project. This bilingual application enhances cybersecurity for Sharjah government employees by protecting browsers and systems against fraud while navigating government websites.

Rain monitoring system “Mada” unveiled
The Sharjah Digital Government also introduced “Mada,” a rain monitoring system that utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to predict rainfall and provide early warnings. The system supports real-time decision-making with interactive maps and live updates, helping authorities implement proactive safety and sustainability measures.

Honouring graduates of the AI Academy
As part of the pavilion’s events, His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, alongside Her Excellency Engineer Lamia Obaid Al Hussan Al Shamsi, honoured graduates from the Artificial Intelligence Academy 2025. The program, developed in collaboration with the Human Resources Department and Microsoft, aims to equip professionals with skills in AI and smart systems. The ceremony was also attended by His Excellency Majid Hamad Al Marri and Microsoft representatives.

Future vision: Sharjah’s digital ambitions
Through innovations in artificial intelligence, geospatial technology, and cybersecurity, Sharjah continues to build a secure and sustainable digital environment. Its participation in GITEX World 2025 is a key step in showcasing its leadership in government innovation and enhancing the quality of life for all its residents.
