The event, attended by Mohammed Abdullah Al-Buraiki, Director of the Poetry House, attracted a large and diverse audience of critics, poets, and lovers of language and beauty, who warmly engaged with the performances.
The evening was hosted by media presenter Reem Maarouf, who opened with a heartfelt welcome and expressed deep gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his continuous support of culture.
She said:
“We gather this evening in the Emirate of culture, poetry, literature, and expression — in Sharjah — in a house that embraces its lovers and preserves their essence. Here, poetry is not a linguistic luxury, but a mirror of the soul, a homeland we return to when other homelands narrow before us.”
The readings began with Mohamed Al-Muayyad Majdoub, who opened with verses celebrating the power and vitality of poetic voice.
He also recited his poem “The Moment You Did Not Recall”, a moving tribute to the late Sudanese poet Mohamed Idris Al-Jamaa, filled with emotion and remembrance.
He was followed by Tariq Al-Abbas, whose poetry delved into the depths of the spirit and its questions about the world. His works, including “The Night Accused of Darkness” and “What Blindness Sees”, reflected a profound philosophical vision and rich imagery.
The evening concluded with Mufreh Al-Shaqiqi, whose verses were woven with tenderness and layered meanings that touched the audience’s hearts.
