The event reflected the rich history of the aviation sector in the UAE and the emirate of Sharjah, which witnessed the landing of the first passenger aircraft in 1932, marking the beginning of a new era of development and growth.
The event highlighted the UAE's pioneering journey in the civil aviation sector, from its early beginnings to its rise to the ranks of advanced countries in this vital sector, as well as the UAE achievements and significant contributions to the development of civil aviation at the international level.
The platform attracted visitors to the centre, who enjoyed a variety of interactive activities, including introductory presentations recounting historical milestones in the aviation history of the UAE in general and Sharjah in particular, as well as interactive digital experiences.
Souvenirs and educational brochures were distributed to visitors, and competitions were organised. A highlight of the event was the raffle draw, with a number of lucky participants winning valuable prizes, including airline tickets and cash. The souvenirs and prizes were sponsored by Air Arabia, AAL Group, Serco, and Gaes.
On this occasion, His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah, said that celebrating the UAE Civil Aviation Day reflects the significant achievements of the UAE in this vital sector and recalls a long history of progress, innovation, and sustainability that would not have been possible without the guidance and support of the wise leadership, and efforts of public and private sectors’ partners to document the success story of this sector to date.
His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Issam Al Qasimi added that for more than nine decades, the UAE's aviation sector has witnessed exceptional growth, driven by an ambitious vision and the unlimited support of the wise leadership. He was looking forward to continuing to celebrate this national day annually through renewed achievements that maintain the UAE's position among developed nations.
For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Thani, Director of the Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah, said that this event, organised to mark UAE Civil Aviation Day, represents a tribute to the efforts of everyone who contributed to the development of the aviation sector in the country. Today, the Department is proud to share this success with the community, highlighting successive achievements and the most prominent milestones witnessed by the civil aviation sector. The event also aimed to motivate future generations to innovate and create, contributing to the continued progress and sustainable development.
The event concluded amidst great interaction from visitors, who expressed their pride in the national achievements in the field of aviation and in the pioneering role of the Emirate of Sharjah in supporting the development and innovation process in this vital sector.
