The meeting, held, on Monday, at the Council's headquarters, was chaired by His Excellency Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of SCC.
In his speech, he emphasised the Council's pivotal role as a vital bridge of communication between the government and society. He emphasised the Council's commitment to being the voice of the citizen on various issues and to continuing to address the real needs of the emirate's citizens through discussions, parliamentary questions, and initiatives that reflect the pulse and aspirations of the people.
Al Nuaimi expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for his unlimited support of the Consultative Council and his constant commitment to enabling it to fulfil its national mission. He confirmed that this support is an incentive to exert more effort and redouble our efforts to achieve the Council's lofty goals and missions.
Al Nuaimi commended the efforts of Ahmed Saeed Al Jaroun, the former Secretary-General of the Council, for his sincere efforts and continuous contributions during his tenure. Through his leadership and constant commitment, he embodied the highest values of dedication and responsibility, and contributed with his sincerity to supporting the Council's progress and strengthening its parliamentary role, thus consolidating its position and leadership.
Al Nuaimi also congratulated Meera Khalifa Al Muqrab on her appointment as Secretary-General of the Sharjah Consultative Council, wishing her success. The meeting reviewed the Council's parliamentary plans in the areas of legislative and oversight jurisdiction, including holding public sessions and discussing the policies of several government departments and agencies, as well as directing parliamentary questions and following up on proposals and complaints received from members and the public, with the aim of achieving greater integration between the Council's work and that of government agencies in the emirate.
His Excellency the Council Chairman also praised the constructive cooperation of government departments and local authorities, emphasising that the ongoing interaction with the Council and the recommendations and proposals it provides reflects these entities' belief in the importance of partnership and institutional integration, which contributes to improving the quality of services and meeting community aspirations.
The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Halima Humaid Al Owais, Vice Chairperson of the Council, and members of the Bureau and Chairpersons of the Standing Committees. These included: Mohammed Ali Jaber Al Hammadi, Chairperson of the Legislative and Legal Affairs, Appeals, Suggestions, and Complaints Committee; Sheikha Ali Al Naqbi, Chairperson of the Education, Youth, Culture, and Media Affairs Committee; Rashid Abdullah bin Huwaiden, Chairperson of the Financial, Economic, and Industrial Affairs Committee; Jassim Mohammed Al Hanawi Al Naqbi, Chairperson of the Draft Recommendations Preparation Committee; Mohammed Ali Al Ali, Chairperson of the Health, Labor, and Social Affairs Committee; and Saeed Matar bin Hamed Al Tunaiji, Chairperson of the Family Affairs Committee. Meera Khalifa Al Muqrab, Secretary-General of the Council and Rapporteur of the Bureau, and Amna Baslaib, Head of the Sessions Affairs Department, also participated in the meeting.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on continuing efforts to ensure that the Consultative Council serves as an effective platform for citizens' voices and a parliamentary umbrella that embodies the wise vision of the wise leadership to promote development, consolidate the principles of Shura, and achieve social stability in the Emirate of Sharjah.
