The MOU outlines cooperation in scientific research between the University and GE Vernova’s Power Grid Automation division. It includes provisions that cover exchanging information and educational materials to support research programs in critical areas such as power grid technologies, electrical engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, communications, and generative AI. The agreement also calls for the establishment of an industrial advisory committee from GE Vernova to assist in developing professional competencies among university students and researchers.
Furthermore, the MOU provides a framework for joint research projects, organization of expert-led lectures and workshops, and co-supervision of master's and doctoral student projects, offering valuable hands-on experience.
Both parties emphasised that this agreement underscores their commitment to strengthening integration between academia and industry. They highlighted how this partnership supports scientific research progress and prepares national talents capable of meeting labor market demands in energy and advanced technologies.
Present at the signing were Prof. Maamar Bettayeb, Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Sharjah, along with several department heads and faculty members from the College of Engineering. From GE Vernova’s side, the attendees included Sufyan Essa, Regional Account Director, Sabrina Labarile, Human Resources Leader for the Gulf region, Tahira Komal, Global Marketing Manager, and Prakash Narayanan, Engineering Manager (Technical Applications).
