The exhibition, held on the university campus in the morning, was attended by Professor Dr Hassan Al Malkh, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs; Ms Ahlam Bin Jarsh, Assistant Director for Student Affairs; Professor Dr Suleiman Al Sarairah, Dean of Student Affairs; along with the deanship’s team, invited guests, and students.
This event aligns with global celebrations of International Elderly Day and embodies the university’s vision of highlighting human values based on respect and appreciation for parents and grandparents, recognising them as fundamental pillars in building societies, while instilling communication and care values in students.
The exhibition served as a bridge between authentic Emirati heritage and the aspirations of new generations, contributing to preparing students who are aware of their identity and deeply connected to their cultural roots.
Several elderly women skilled in traditional crafts, from the Senior Services Centre and Al-Ilm Noor Centre, participated by conducting live workshops for university students. They demonstrated authentic traditional products such as Sadu weaving, Talli embroidery, veil cutting, perfume making, traditional foods, and heritage accessories. The interactive sessions allowed students to engage closely, appreciating the high cultural value of these crafts and recognising their importance for transmission to future generations.
Attendees praised the high organisational standard of the event and its deep cultural and humanitarian significance, emphasising that Al Qasimia University continues its leading role in serving the community and strengthening students’ national identity.
At the conclusion of the event, Professor Dr Awad Al Khalaf honoured the elderly women, presenting them with commemorative gifts and expressing gratitude for their valuable contributions in transferring practical knowledge to the students. The University President affirmed that such activities aim to promote intergenerational interaction, instill values of loyalty and pride in the role of senior citizens, and deepen students’ awareness of their cultural heritage.
