Global experts assemble in Khorfakkan to advance adaptive PE

Sharjah 24:The organising committee has finalised the agenda for Day One of the Eighth Khorfakkan International Scientific Conference on Disability and Adapted Physical Education, taking place at the University of Khorfakkan.

International participation

The conference hosts nine international experts from eight different countries across the Arab world, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. In total, 54 scholars representing 21 nations are participating, making this a truly global platform for knowledge exchange.

Strengthening UAE’s global leadership

The primary goal of the conference is to analyse global best practices and latest scientific findings to enhance the UAE’s leadership in empowering People of Determination. The event also aims to support inclusive programme development across multiple sectors.

Key themes on opening day

Discussions on the first day are centred around four main themes:

Towards a better quality of life

This session focuses on inclusive physical education, assistive technologies, and the role of ICT in promoting social integration.

Physical activity and social inclusion

This panel highlights how physical activity fosters inclusion, particularly for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and those participating in competitive sports.

Talent discovery in determination clubs

Experts will examine how clubs for People of Determination are identifying and nurturing athletic talent.

Education and psychological support

The final theme explores the role of physical education and psychological support in the successful educational inclusion of students with disabilities.

Aiming for tangible outcomes

Abdullah Saeed Al Harithi, Head of the Corporate Communications Committee at Khor Fakkan Club for the Disabled, emphasised that the conference is designed to yield practical, actionable outcomes that further elevate the UAE’s position in this specialised field.
