Sharjah 24: The Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled has announced the start of its overseas wheelchair basketball training camp in Egypt, which will run until 6 November and feature several friendly matches against Egyptian teams. The camp aims to improve players’ physical fitness and tactical skills ahead of the new season, offering a valuable opportunity for skill development and international exposure.

The delegation is headed by Ali Ahmed Al Naqbi, the club's Secretary General. It includes Abdulaziz Ahmed Al Hammadi, the Team Administrator, as well as 11 players, a coach, and team officials.

The initiative demonstrates the club’s dedication to nurturing its athletes and aligns with the UAE leadership’s vision to empower people of determination and attain international sporting excellence.

Commitment to athlete development

Ali Ahmed Al Naqbi highlighted that the club focuses on offering its athletes international training chances and the opportunity to represent the UAE in various sports. He pointed out that overseas camps are crucial for enhancing players’ fitness, mental concentration, and technical skills.

“External training camps are essential for preparing the team for the season,” Al Naqbi said. “They offer ideal weather conditions, full mental focus for players, and a chance to apply tactical plans in a professional setting. Such preparation helps achieve strong results locally and internationally.”

He added that the club provides comprehensive logistical and psychological support, including modern sports equipment, to keep pace with global development in para-sports.

Advancing UAE para-sports excellence

Al Naqbi observed that UAE para-sports have made significant progress recently, with national teams achieving notable results on the international stage. He highlighted that training camps are a vital element in these achievements, enabling teams to test strategies, foster cohesion, and compete at a high level.

“These camps expand our pool of ready players and ensure tactical and physical readiness through international exposure,” he explained.

Egypt chosen for ideal conditions

Abdulaziz Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Technical Affairs and Talent Care Committee, emphasised the importance of choosing the right environment for training camps. He explained that Egypt was selected this year because of its favourable climate, high-quality facilities, and the presence of strong local teams for competitive friendly matches.

“The change of environment and the availability of quality training infrastructure contribute greatly to players’ psychological and physical preparation,” Al Hammadi said. “Egypt provides all the necessary conditions for a productive and successful camp.”
