ICP unveils updates and additions to entry visa regulations

New visit visa categories

Four new categories of visit visas have been launched, targeting specialists in artificial intelligence, entertainment, events, cruise ships, and leisure boats. These visas are designed to attract skilled talent and support key sectors of the UAE economy.

Humanitarian residence permit

A humanitarian residence permit has been introduced, valid for one year with the possibility of extension, subject to conditions defined by the Authority.

Residence for widows and divorcees

Foreign widows and divorcees may now obtain a one-year residence permit, renewable for a similar period, provided they meet the required criteria.

Family and friends visit visa

The updated rules allow the sponsorship of a friend or relative up to the third degree, based on the sponsor’s income, creating more flexibility for family reunification.

Business exploration and truck driver visas

The business exploration visa requires applicants to demonstrate financial solvency to establish a company, own a share in an existing business abroad, or prove professional practice.

Meanwhile, the truck driver visa requires a sponsor as well as compliance with health and financial guarantee conditions.

Clear duration and extension Rules

The amendments include detailed schedules specifying the authorized duration of stay for each visa type, along with clear conditions for renewal or extension, ensuring transparency and consistency.
