MoFA, ICP launch new consular services for Golden Visa holders

Sharjah 24 – WAM: At the 45th edition of GITEX Global 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) unveiled a first-of-its-kind suite of consular services exclusively for UAE Golden Visa holders. This global-first initiative highlights the UAE’s commitment to innovation in citizen and resident services.

High-level participation

The launch event was attended by senior officials, including Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi, Undersecretary at MoFA, and Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of ICP, along with representatives from both entities and visitors to the major international tech exhibition.

In line with the “Year of Community”

This initiative supports the 2025 national theme, “Year of Community – Hand in Hand,” declared by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It reflects the UAE’s vision of building an inclusive society and delivering integrated, forward-thinking services that empower residents and attract global talent.

Supporting Golden Visa holders worldwide

Omar Alshamsi emphasized that the tailored consular services for Golden Visa holders align with the UAE’s strategy to be a top destination for skilled professionals, investors, and innovators. He noted that the partnership between MoFA and ICP creates a seamless ecosystem that supports Golden Visa holders both within and outside the UAE.

A leap in government integration

Major General Suhail Al Khaili described the new services as a “qualitative leap” in cross-agency integration. He highlighted the Authority’s efforts to deliver smart, human-centered solutions that meet the specific needs of distinguished residents, in line with the country’s values of generosity and excellence.

Key features of the new services

The newly launched services for Golden Visa holders and their families include:

  • Electronic Return Document issuance in case of lost or damaged passports while abroad
  • Dedicated hotline for direct support
  • 24/7 emergency and crisis response via MoFA Call Centre (0097124931133)
  • Repatriation of mortal remains of Golden Visa holders who pass away abroad, in coordination with relevant authorities

Extending humanitarian support

In a significant development, the UAE has expanded consular emergency services—previously exclusive to UAE nationals—to include Golden Visa holders. This ensures comprehensive care, protection, and dignity for all distinguished residents, especially in times of crisis.
