The event opened with a speech by Her Excellency Prof. Aisha Bushlaibi, Chancellor of the University, who reviewed the university's most notable achievements during its first year. She emphasised that this journey stems from the wise vision and unlimited support of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University, who has placed education and scientific research at the forefront of his priorities.
Developing the academic and research infrastructure
His Excellency Dr Salem Zayed Al Tunaiji, member of the University's Board of Trustees, also delivered a speech in which he commended the significant efforts made to develop the academic and research infrastructure, affirming the Board's commitment to supporting the university's journey towards excellence and sustainable growth.
The ceremony featured a presentation highlighting the most notable achievements in the fields of agriculture and veterinary medicine, along with the accompanying research and community initiatives that reflect the university's commitment to serving the community and enhancing food and environmental security.
In an inspiring touch, student Musleh Al Aryani, the youngest Emirati farmer, delivered a speech in which he shared his personal experience with the university and its role in developing his agricultural ambitions.
Student Abdulrahman Al Tunaiji also recited an expressive poem, reflecting the spirit of belonging and ambition among university students.
Panel discussion
The ceremony also featured an inspiring panel discussion, co-moderated by student Sultan Qasim. A group of university academics discussed their scientific and research experiences and their vision for the university's future. Among those who participated were Prof. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Saadi, Professor in the College of Agriculture; Dr Moza Al Mansouri, Assistant Professor in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Dr Ruqayya Mohammed Ahmed, Assistant Professor in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; and Dr Saeed Al Naqbi, Assistant Professor in the College of Law.
The event concluded with the opening of the student achievement exhibition and the honouring of contributors. The event was embodied by the distinguished moderation and presentation of student Issa Al Mazmi, who served as master of ceremonies, embodying the university's journey, which is based on leadership, innovation, and empowering future generations.
