Sharjah 24: House of Wisdom (HoW) in Sharjah has successfully wrapped up its 2025 summer camps, welcoming a total of 382 participants across three distinctive programmes: Kalila wa Dimna, Al Jazari FabLab, and the Youth Camp.

The camps drew enthusiastic participation, with 218 children attending Kalila wa Dimna, 73 engaging in Al Jazari FabLab, and around 91 joining the Youth Camp, underscoring HoW’s strong community appeal and its commitment to interactive, knowledge-driven learning experiences.

Knowledge-rich activities for children

Catering to children aged 6–12, HoW’s Little Readers section brought the timeless fables of Kalila wa Dimna to life through modern theatrical performances, hands-on animal interaction sessions, and Shadow Theatre, in collaboration with the UAE Board on Books for Young People.

At the Al Jazari FabLab, storytelling met technology with sessions featuring AI-powered narratives, fast-track Arduino programming, 3D printing, and laser cutting.

For participants aged 12 and above, the Youth Camp offered a platform for self-discovery and skill-building through diverse workshops such as drawing, pottery, and cooking, conducted in partnership with the Sharjah Ladies Club.

Essential knowledge and skills

Marwa Al Aqroubi, HoW Executive Director, reflected on the season’s success, saying: “Our summer programmes were designed to transform children and youth from passive consumers of technology into active creators, while equipping them with essential knowledge and skills. This year’s turnout demonstrates our commitment to delivering activities that resonate with younger generations and underscores the value of interactive, enriching spaces.”

Parents shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, highlighting their children’s delight in seeing imagined stories come to life through visuals and sound, an experience akin to creating their own books. They also hailed the thoughtful integration of creativity and technology, noting that the camps’ introduction to AI served as a motivating learning tool. Many parents observed that the experience boosted their children’s confidence, curiosity, and digital literacy, laying a strong foundation for future growth.

Through these initiatives, HoW solidifies its role as a cultural and knowledge incubator, nurturing tomorrow’s innovators by combining timeless wisdom with future-ready learning.
