Sharjah Art Foundation hosts Focal Point pop-up event

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Art Foundation has announced a special one-day pop-up edition of Focal Point, its annual art book fair. The event will be held on 30 August 2025 in Gallery 2, Al Mureijah Square, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore and purchase art publications and printed materials from the Foundation’s archive at discounted prices.

Event details and schedule

The pop-up runs from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, serving as a prelude to the full-scale Focal Point fair scheduled for 12–14 December 2025. The main December event will feature regional and international publishers, along with talks, book launches, and interactive activities.

Celebrating independent publishing since 2018

Launched in 2018, Focal Point has become a vital platform for showcasing independent bookmaking from around the world. The fair supports knowledge-sharing and community building, and features a carefully curated selection of printed matter by cultural producers who experiment with the medium of publishing. It also includes workshops for those passionate about print, design, and publishing.

Coinciding cultural events

The pop-up coincides with the opening of "Restless Circles", a solo exhibition by Abu Dhabi-based artist Afra Al Dhaheri. Additionally, it marks the first day of a week-long sound encounter led by Malik Abdul-Rahmaan, a producer, archivist, and DJ, enriching the cultural experience for attendees.
