Sharjah 24 – WAM: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the announcement by Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, regarding the UK government’s intention to recognise the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly meetings in September.

Step towards advancing the two-state solution

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stated that this move strengthens the international community’s efforts to implement the two-state solution and to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.

A critical and timely decision

He expressed the UAE’s appreciation for the UK’s significant decision, especially given the current critical circumstances. He noted that this reflects the importance of collective international responsibility to revive the political process and end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Supporting regional stability and Palestinian rights

Such actions, he noted, would enhance regional security and stability, while supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the creation of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state in line with relevant UN resolutions and international law.

UAE's continued commitment to a just solution

Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s steadfast support for the aspirations and rights of the Palestinian people and its ongoing collaboration with regional and international partners. He emphasized the importance of working toward a just, sustainable solution that ends the conflict and promotes a more secure and prosperous future for the entire region.
