UAE President, UK PM discuss bilateral ties, regional developments

Sharjah 24 – WAM: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a phone call from the Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The two leaders discussed ongoing developments in the Middle East, with a focus on efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Shared commitment to regional peace and stability

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing regional security and stability. They stressed the importance of progressing toward a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which they see as essential for regional stability and a better future for all its nations and peoples.

Call for immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access

His Highness emphasised the urgent need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and called for the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to ease the suffering of civilians in the area.

Support for UK recognition of Palestinian State

During the call, His Highness praised the British Prime Minister’s recent statement on the UK’s intention to recognise the State of Palestine, commending the move as a positive step toward peace.

Strengthening UAE–UK cooperation

The leaders also discussed expanding cooperation across various sectors and enhancing bilateral relations to serve mutual interests. They reaffirmed their commitment to building on the strong, historical ties between the UAE and the UK to promote peace, development, and security both regionally and internationally.
