UAE National Basketball Team defeats Bahrain in Arab Championship

Sharjah 24 – WAM: The UAE national basketball team secured its second consecutive win in the 26th Arab Men's Championship, currently taking place in the Kingdom of Bahrain, by narrowly defeating the host nation 81-79 in the second round of the competition.

Khalifa Khalil scores game-winning three-pointer

The victory came in dramatic fashion, with Khalifa Khalil sinking a decisive three-pointer in the final second of the match. This win placed the UAE at the top of the standings with four points from two straight victories.

Seven teams compete in round-robin format

The tournament, which continues until August 2, features seven national teams: the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Algeria, and Tunisia. The championship is being played in a single round-robin format.

Federation president praises team's spirit

Major General Ismail Al Gergawi, President of the Arab Basketball Federation, congratulated the UAE delegation in Manama and praised the players’ performance, high morale, and the efforts of the technical and administrative staff that contributed to the win.

Confidence in title contention

Abdul Latif Al Fardan, President of the UAE Basketball Association, expressed full confidence in the team’s ability to contend for the title. He highlighted the support and trust placed in the players and their capability to represent the UAE with honor.

Other second round results

In other second-round matches, reigning champions Egypt defeated Qatar 90-69, while Tunisia overcame Kuwait 86-61.
