Timberwolves capitalise on Curry's absence
Minnesota took full advantage of Golden State's missing star, Stephen Curry, who was sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in Game 1. The Timberwolves surged ahead early and never looked back, dominating at Target Center.
Randle and Edwards lead the charge
Julius Randle led Minnesota with 24 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds. Anthony Edwards added 20 points and 9 rebounds before briefly exiting with an ankle injury. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Jayden McDaniels also contributed significantly, with 20 and 16 points, respectively.
Improved defence key to victory
Edwards credited the win to a strong defensive turnaround. Reflecting on their Game 1 loss, he said the team lacked both scoring and defensive cohesion. “We knew we had to perform well today,” he added.
Warriors struggle without their star
The Warriors lacked firepower without Curry. Jonathan Kuminga led Golden State with 18 points off the bench, while Jimmy Butler added 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Despite a brief third-quarter rally, the Warriors couldn’t sustain momentum.
Timberwolves regain control and seal win
Minnesota weathered Golden State’s push in the third quarter, then closed it out with a 20-5 run, leading 85-65 going into the final quarter. With the Warriors unable to close the gap, coach Steve Kerr pulled his starters with four minutes left.
Series shifts with momentum on Minnesota's side
With the series now tied 1-1, the Timberwolves have gained momentum heading into the next game. Their dominant performance raises questions about Golden State’s ability to compete without Curry.
