Sharjah24: Led by Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs secured a place in the NBA Finals after eliminating defending champions and hosts Oklahoma City Thunder with a 111-103 victory in the winner-takes-all Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. The Spurs will now face the New York Knicks in the championship series.

The Spurs won the Western Conference Finals series 4-3 in the best-of-seven format, earning a spot in the NBA Finals, which begin on Wednesday in San Antonio against the Eastern Conference champions, the Knicks.

Wembanyama: “We’re Not Done Yet”

Wembanyama said: “Even though we’re still hungry for more, I can’t explain this feeling. It’s incredibly powerful. We want four more wins. We’re not done yet. Go Spurs.”

Key contributions

The 2.24-metre French giant Wembanyama scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Julian Champagnie added 20 points, including six three-pointers, while Stephon Castle contributed 16 points for the Spurs, who held the lead for most of the decisive contest.
