Sharjah24: Sharjah Police, through the Eastern Region Police Department, successfully restored a sense of security to a 7-year-old child following a distressing traffic incident in Khorfakkan. The boy had been deeply shaken after a speeding vehicle dangerously ran a red light while he was about to cross a pedestrian walkway. Although the incident caused no physical harm, it had a severe emotional impact, leading to the child’s refusal to leave his home.

Police offer psychological support

Responding swiftly to the mother’s report, a team from the Eastern Region Police visited the family’s home. Officers engaged the child in positive dialogue, provided symbolic gifts, and took him on a short outing with police personnel. These efforts helped restore his confidence and sense of security, highlighting the police’s commitment to child welfare and community care.

Traffic violator penalised

Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Walid Khamis Al Yammahi, Director of the Eastern Region Police Department, confirmed that legal action was taken against the driver, including a 30-day vehicle impoundment, in accordance with traffic laws. He stressed that red-light violations not only cause severe accidents but can also leave lasting psychological effects, particularly on children.

Commitment to safe and supportive communities

Sharjah Police reaffirmed their community-based approach, especially in safeguarding children. Positive psychological intervention, they noted, is a key pillar of community policing and essential to promoting a safe and supportive environment. Drivers were urged to exercise responsibility and help foster a sustainable culture of road safety.
