GCC Secretary-General strongly condemns Iran's attack on Qatar

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), issued a strong condemnation of Iran's missile attack on Qatari territory, describing it as a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and a direct threat to the collective security of all GCC member states.

Affirmation of GCC solidarity

AlBudaiwi reiterated that the security of GCC states is indivisible and affirmed the Council’s full solidarity with Qatar in confronting any threats to its security and territorial integrity.

Attack amid regional peace efforts

He pointed out the irony of Iran’s aggression occurring while Qatar and other GCC nations were condemning Israeli attacks on Iranian territory and working toward a ceasefire and peaceful resolution. He stressed that the Iranian missile strike violates all international laws, norms, and treaties.

Call to international community

The Secretary-General urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take decisive action by condemning Iran’s actions, curbing its destabilising conduct, and fostering a return to regional stability. He called for prioritising diplomacy and dialogue to prevent further escalation and protect regional peace and security.
