Sharjah 24 – KUNA: Jassem Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), expressed his support on Saturday for the United Nations General Assembly's resolution, which calls for a consultative opinion from the International Court of Justice regarding Israel's compliance with UN activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a press statement, Albudaiwi highlighted that the adoption of this resolution reflects a strong international consensus backing the Palestinian people in their struggle and their legitimate right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.
He also referred to the final declaration from the 45th session of the GCC Supreme Council held in December 2024, which reaffirmed the Palestinian cause as the GCC's central issue. Albudaiwi emphasized the GCC's commitment to ending Israeli occupation, supporting Palestinian sovereignty over all occupied territories, and urging global recognition of the State of Palestine.
He also stressed the importance of collective efforts toward achieving lasting peace, with a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions.
