These programmes aim to strengthen the capacities of educational institutions, teachers, supervisors and specialised curricula. They target all stakeholders involved in Arabic language education, including curriculum designers, educational administrators, teachers and educational supervisors, thereby contributing to unified and integrated educational efforts at the Gulf level.
The package includes eleven diverse programmes, among them seven research projects and specialised studies, in addition to competitions, educational initiatives, events and conferences. All contribute to advancing Arabic teaching methodology and offer practical, on-the-ground models for implementing best modern educational practices.
These initiatives represent an extension of the centre’s vital role in supporting the Arabic language and in proposing innovative scientific and educational solutions to the challenges facing native-language instruction.
Among the key programmes is the “Meetings of Arabic Language Officials in Respective Institutions”, which fosters ongoing institutional communication with the centre’s Board of Trustees, serving as an advisory body for exchanging expertise and offering guidance. It also focuses on developing action plans and enhancing collaboration with educational bodies in the Gulf in order to raise the quality of Arabic language education.
The centre is also launching a programme centred on “Hosting Joint Conferences and Events with Institutions Serving the Arabic Language”, through the organisation of the International Arabic Language Conference in Sharjah and participation in regional and international events. These activities allow for the exchange of experiences and the dissemination of best practices, building on outcomes from the previous cycle to find solutions to the challenges facing Arabic language education and to enhance its standing both locally and internationally.
The centre is also continuing implementation of the Procedural Guide for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers According to the Reference Framework (IMTAA)—the first of its kind in the Arab world. This framework focuses on the structured preparation of Arabic language curricula for non-native speakers, based on clear scientific and educational foundations. It outlines evaluation mechanisms, content design, teaching methods and the standard specifications required to develop curricula in line with international standards.
The package also includes a plan to enhance children's reading and writing skills through the use of digital children’s literature, benefiting from technological tools and interactive media as educational resources that support linguistic intelligence and help develop expressive abilities in a modern learning environment. This includes digital stories, e-books, educational songs and games.
In the context of integrating modern education with pedagogical needs, the centre is introducing a reference framework for developing interactive writing skills and productive thinking through differentiated e-learning activities for intermediate students from Grades 7 to 9. The goal is to create an educational programme that strengthens students' expressive and creative capacities by using varied strategies that respond to individual learning differences.
Among the most significant initiatives is a programme to develop Arabic language curriculum content for Grades 1 to 6 in line with the requirements of digital citizenship. This programme aims to enhance students’ digital safety skills and responsible interaction with technology, in harmony with concepts of digital identity and active participation in the knowledge-based society.
The centre is also advancing Arabic language education for students in Grades 10 to 12 through the application of artificial intelligence technologies. These include machine translation, interactive engagement with texts, conversational interaction, and language analysis—tools that enhance the appeal of learning Arabic and keep pace with technological advancements in educational environments.
In support of talent and motivation, the centre organises the “Arabic Language Proficiency” programme, which targets gifted students through competitions that highlight their skills in public speaking, poetry, and eloquence. The initiative aims to strengthen students’ connection to the Arabic language and broaden its use among younger generations in the Gulf.
The centre also organises poetry, short story and novel competitions for general education students, offering talented learners the opportunity to express their linguistic creativity. These competitions enhance cultural engagement and promote a spirit of positive and distinguished competition in their school and social environments.
The centre continues to develop the second phase of its “I Love Arabic” series for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. The updates focus on content and methods aligned with the latest international standards and best practices from global educational institutions, ensuring a high-quality learning product that meets the expectations of stakeholders involved in Arabic language education for non-native speakers.
The centre concludes this programme package with an initiative to develop Arabic language curricula for Grades 10 to 12 in light of modern semantic theory applications. These theories support a deeper understanding of meaning, vocabulary and expression, enriching the curriculum and enhancing students’ linguistic interpretation skills. The initiative includes the preparation of a reference document, a teacher’s guide, and the training of educational staff.
Dr Issa Al Hammadi, Director of ALECGS, confirmed that these programmes were developed using modern scientific methodologies and are a direct response to current educational challenges. They also reflect the centre’s commitment to its pioneering role in supporting the Arabic language regionally and internationally, and to backing member states in advancing Arabic education on a solid foundation of quality and sustainability.
He noted that these initiatives embody the centre’s comprehensive vision to enhance the quality of Arabic language education, connect it with current educational and technological developments, and support educators through innovative, practical projects that elevate the status of Arabic and serve future generations across the Gulf and the Arab world.
