Sharjah 24 – AFP: France secured third place in the fourth edition of the UEFA Nations League with a 2-0 win over host Germany on Sunday in Stuttgart, thanks to a strong performance led by Kylian Mbappé.

Mbappé shines with goal and assist

Captain Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 45th minute, bouncing back from France’s 5-4 semi-final loss to Spain. In the 84th minute, Mbappé provided an assist to substitute Mickael Oliseh, who sealed the win with the second goal.

First win over Germany since June 2021

The victory marks France’s first over Germany since June 2021. Meanwhile, Germany continues to struggle, missing out on a Nations League final once again. The 2019 champions Portugal will face 2024 European champions Spain in the final.

Second straight defeat for Germany

This match also marks Germany’s second consecutive defeat, having lost 2-1 to Portugal in the semi-finals—their first back-to-back losses since 2023.
