Sharjah24: During the first quarter of 2025, the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) conducted a variety of activities aimed at educating students in eight schools about effective conservation techniques and the optimal use of energy and water resources. These initiatives benefited a total of 2,887 male and female students, helping them understand the importance of saving resources and adopting responsible consumption habits.

Community outreach through multiple events

SEWA also participated in six events organised by various government entities in Sharjah, targeting different community segments. These efforts reached 2,540 people from diverse backgrounds, raising awareness about energy and water conservation and promoting sustainable practices across the emirate.

Workshops and exhibitions foster conservation culture

Rashed Al Marzouqi, Director of Media and Communications at SEWA, explained that the awareness activities and workshops held over the first three months of 2025 included sessions in kindergartens and schools, as well as participation in various governmental events and exhibitions. These platforms serve to instil a culture of conservation, emphasising the importance of preserving resources, educating different groups on electricity and water saving methods, and demonstrating modern, efficient technologies and devices.

Aiming to enhance skills and knowledge across society

Al Marzouqi confirmed that SEWA plans to continue organising a diverse range of activities aimed at developing the skills and knowledge of all community members. This reflects the Authority’s ongoing commitment to promoting the optimal use of energy and water, seeking innovative solutions to help individuals make informed decisions that contribute to conservation, reduce consumption bills, and protect the environment.

Focus on youth, government employees, and the wider public

Saif Al Naqbi, Head of Awareness and Education at SEWA, highlighted that the events targeted various groups, particularly school students, through specially designed workshops and creative initiatives suited to different age groups. The goal is to instil conservation values in younger generations, cultivate a sense of responsibility, and encourage correct use of energy and water. The programmes also reached government staff, workers at clubs, families, and other community sectors, broadening the impact of the awareness campaign.
