UOS, Fudan University expand academic ties

Sharjah 24: In a dynamic move to strengthen international academic ties and foster the exchange of global expertise, the University of Sharjah (UOS) has welcomed a distinguished delegation from Fudan University, one of China’s most venerable and prestigious institutions. The visit marks a significant step in the University of Sharjah’s ongoing efforts to deepen its international partnerships and enhance scientific and cultural exchange, with a particular focus on collaboration between the two universities’ schools of public policy.

High-level delegation from Fudan University

The Fudan delegation, led by Professor Yijia Jing, Senior Advisor to the University President for Global Cooperation, Dean of the Institute for Global Public Policy, Director of the Center for Global Development and China-Arab Governance Research, and Head of the Joint Global Public Policy Research Center with the London School of Economics was received with warmth and enthusiasm. Joining Professor Jing were Dr Jingyuan Xu, Assistant Professor at the Institute for International Public Policy; Mr. Xiangrong Zhang, Head of International Student Affairs; and Rong Zhang, Director of the Administrative Office at the Institute for Global Public Policy.

University of Sharjah's leadership and vision

Representing the University of Sharjah were Professor Yousef Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Professor Mohamed Adel Serhani, Deputy Director of the Office of International Relations; and Dr Shyamal Kataria, Chair of the Department of International Relations at the College of Public Policy. Together, the two parties explored a broad spectrum of academic cooperation, ranging from student exchange programs and faculty mobility to the joint organisation of international conferences and symposia.

Joint initiatives to empower students

Both institutions expressed a shared commitment to developing joint initiatives that would empower students at the College of Public Policy to benefit from multicultural learning environments and to hone their research and academic skills through rich international experiences. The collaboration aims to prepare a new generation of leaders in public policy, development, and global governance, equipping them with the knowledge and perspective needed to navigate a rapidly changing world.
