Sharjah 24: In a vibrant display of academic engagement and community outreach, the University of Sharjah (UOS) recently organised an Open Day for high school students, welcoming over 3,500 attendees from 40 public and private schools across the UAE.

The event, held at the University’s main campus under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Esameldin Ibrahim Agamy, Chancellor of the University, aimed to introduce prospective students and their families to the University’s diverse academic programmes and state-of-the-art facilities.

The Open Day featured interactive sessions

The Open Day featured interactive sessions led by the Admissions Office alongside all UoS colleges and specialised centers, offering visitors a comprehensive overview of admission requirements, curricula, and future career opportunities. Attendees explored academic departments through guided tours and workshops, gaining firsthand insight into the University’s advanced infrastructure and innovative educational environment.

During his tour of the college pavilions, the University’s Chancellor, Prof. Esameldin Ibrahim Agamy, underscored the significance of the Open Day as a vital platform for building bridges between the University of Sharjah and high school students. “The Open Day serves as an important forum for fostering connections with prospective students and their families, allowing them to experience firsthand the University’s academic environment and exemplary student services. These include 64 undergraduate programmes and 84 graduate programmes (23 doctoral, 58 master’s, and three higher diploma programmes). Each of these programmes is carefully designed to align with the evolving needs of both the local and regional job markets,” he added.

Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Dr. Amina Al Marzouqi, described the Open Day as a valuable opportunity for prospective university students to align their academic ambitions with their personal interests and the evolving demands of the labor market. She stressed the University’s dedication to equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their chosen fields. Meanwhile, Dr. Nadia Farhat, Director of Marketing and Student Recruitment Department, noted that the event forms part of a strategic plan to raise awareness of the University’s broad spectrum of programmes, with participating colleges providing immersive experiences that simulate university life.
