In an exclusive statement to "Sharjah24," Dr. Al Tunaiji stated that the program was developed through collaboration between the department and several local farmers, with the goal of shifting from traditional to organic farming practices. The initiative offers comprehensive packages that include organic seeds and fertilizers, and the department has pledged to supply organic pesticides in later phases as needed.
His Excellency confirmed that the program extends beyond technical and agricultural support to include marketing aspects. Direct channels have been opened for selling farmers' products in Sharjah, in cooperation with Sharjah Asset Management Company, Al Jubail Markets, and Sharjah Cooperative Societies. Efforts are also underway to include major retail outlets such as Carrefour and Lulu Hypermarket.
Dr. Al Tunaiji indicated that the department will continue to provide guidance, monitoring, and strict oversight of these farms to ensure compliance with organic farming standards. He stated that this program represents a significant turning point in food security in the emirate and reflects Sharjah's commitment to providing a sustainable model for modern environmental agriculture.
