Titled "Integrated Services for Learning Disabilities and ADHD: Standards and Procedures," the pioneering publication was launched during a ceremony today at the Sharjah Education Academy in the presence of senior officials and education experts.
The integrated guide for learning disabilities and ADHD represents years of dedicated effort and serves as the UAE's first standardised reference unifying concepts and practices for learning disabilities and ADHD. The guide is an essential tool and resource for all teachers, psychologists, parents, and healthcare/education professionals.
The guide is a science-based roadmap covering early challenge identification, diagnostic procedures, personalised intervention plans, effective educational models, behaviour modification techniques and offers both classroom and home support strategies.
The guide draws from extensive global research reviews and offers practical focus with the help of real case studies and adaptable education plans. The book helps with local adaptation tailoring international best practices to UAE contexts.
Speaking on the occasion, Her Excellency Sheikha Jamila bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, President of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, emphasised: "This first-of-its-kind guide embodies Sharjah's vision to empower individuals with learning challenges through innovative solutions. It represents a qualitative leap in creating equal opportunities for growth and community participation."
Dr Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Center for Learning Disabilities, noted: "This isn't just an informational project—it's a vital response to real educational needs. The guide bridges the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, offering simplified yet professional guidance."
The initiative seeks to standardise support approaches across UAE institutions by empowering educators with progressive classroom strategies, engaging families in educational and therapeutic planning and combining global expertise with local applicability.
The guide is now available for integration into teacher training programs and as a key reference for UAE education policies supporting students with learning differences.
