Sharjah 24: Sharjah Women's Sports’s clubs, represented by the Sharjah Women's Sports Club, Kalba Women's Sports Club, and Khorfakkan Women's Sports Club, confirmed their strong presence in the UAE Open Taekwondo Championship, achieving a series of achievements in the women's and girls' categories.

Achievements culminated in a harvest of 23 coloured medals, including gold, silver, and bronze, across various weight categories, reflecting the depth of technical development seen by the Foundation's teams.

Strong performance and coloured medals

Sharjah Women's Sports Club won two gold medals through Maysoun Ehab in the 73 kg weight class and Jannah Jamal in the under 73 kg weight class. The team also added three bronze medals through Fatima Musa (53 kg), Maryam Ibrahim (49 kg), and Rawda Mohammed Siddiq (46 kg), in performances that demonstrated the players' experience and ability to persevere in tough competition.

Kalba Women's Sports Club shone, winning three gold medals through Yasmine Yasser (67 kg), Montaha Al Fadel (62 kg), and Amira Sabry (49 kg). The team also won a silver medal through Maha Rabie in the 57 kg weight class, along with a bronze medal through Mai Khamis (46 kg), reflecting the diverse skills within the team and the balanced performance across the different weight classes.

Khorfakkan Women's Sports Club made its presence felt through the silver medal won by Rawan Ibrahim in the under 73 kg weight class.

In the women's category, Sharjah Women's Sports Club won two gold medals through Jana Samir Salam (52 kg) and Maryam Sayed Ahmed (46 kg), along with a silver medal through Ann Rosie (42 kg). Bronze medals were won by Sheikha Hussein Sharif (59 kg), Marwa Zuhair Mohammed (49 kg), and Fatima Jamal (46 kg), reflecting the quality of the players' technical training. Kalba Women's Sports Club won a single gold medal, thanks to the brilliance of Amna Mohammed Al- Loughani in the 68 kg weight class. The bronze medals were won by Ghala Yasser Al Kindi (63 kg), Sherifa Ismail (55 kg), and Fawzia Khaled Siddiq (52 kg), demonstrating a diverse presence that enhances the team's preparedness.

Khorfakkan Women's Sports Club also had an active presence with two medals: a silver medal for Maitha Rashid Ahmed (46 kg) and a bronze medal for Ruqayya Rashid Al Dhanhani (42 kg), confirming the remarkable progress made by the club's female players.

Collective work and continuous effort

Abdullah Hatem, Taekwondo Technical Director, commented on the tournament's results, saying that what was achieved in the UAE Open Taekwondo Championship is the result of collective work and continuous effort within Sharjah Women's Sports clubs.

Hatem added that players demonstrated great commitment and clear development in both technical and mental aspects, especially in managing bouts and playing under pressure. What distinguishes this achievement is not only the number of medals, but also the wide variety of weights and categories, which reflects the depth of the technical base clubs are working to build.

The Taekwondo Technical Director confirmed that these tournaments constitute important learning milestones and are a further step towards realising goals at the regional and international levels.

Abdullah Hatem concluded that results confirm the effectiveness of the training programmes and technical strategy adopted by Sharjah Women's Sports clubs to develop the sport of taekwondo. This is achieved through continuous support for the three clubs, enabling players to compete at the highest levels, and achieving a strong presence in all tournaments.
