SWSC shines with 7 medals at UAE Fencing Championships

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Women’s Sports Club delivered an impressive showing at the UAE Fencing Championships, held on April 19–20 at Al Mizhar Sports Hall in Dubai.

Competing across the Under-11, Under-15, and Under-20 categories, the club's athletes secured a total of seven medals. Their achievements reflect both talent and rigorous preparation, standing out among widespread participation from clubs across the UAE.

Day 1 Highlights – April 19

The first day of competition featured the Under-11 and Under-15 categories, with Sharjah’s fencers earning several medals:

Under-15 Sabre

Shamma Humaid Al Suwaidi – Silver

Mahra Yaqoub Al Zarouni – Bronze

Under-15 Foil

Shamma Al Muhairi – Bronze

Under-11 Sabre

Maitha Al Marzouqi – Gold

Noura Al Ketbi – Bronze

Under-11 Foil

Tulin Mohsen – Silver

Day 2 Highlights – April 20

The championship concluded with the Under-20 category, where Sharjah’s fencers continued their strong performances:

Afra Al Balushi – Bronze

Strong participation across clubs

Sharjah Women’s Sports Club fielded eight players on the first day and five on the second. Khorfakkan Women’s Sports Club also participated with four athletes on day one and two on day two. This reflects the Foundation’s commitment to maintaining a strong presence across all age levels and regions.

Praise from technical staff

Captain Hassan Al-Zawari, Fencing Technical Director, commended the players’ development and resilience: “The players showed remarkable improvement and maturity, especially those returning after a break or competing for the first time. The results reflect disciplined training and growing confidence on the field.” Suwaisi added

Saber coach Ibrahim Suwaisi added, “There is noticeable growth in performance, especially among younger players. The harmony between Maitha Al Marzouqi and Noura Al Ketbi was exceptional, and the team overall is developing technically and mentally with every competition.”

Future outlook

These achievements highlight the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club’s ongoing efforts to support and nurture emerging female athletes. By focusing on high-level national competitions, the club aims to build a new generation of fencers capable of representing the UAE at professional and international levels.
