Sharjah Club wins UAE Open Taekwondo Championship

Sharjah 24: Sharjah Sports Club’s men’s taekwondo team secured first place at the UAE Open Taekwondo Championship, hosted at the Ajman Youth Centre. The event saw participation from over 130 athletes representing 10 clubs from across the UAE.

The team earned the top spot after winning the highest number of medals—13 in total—including 6 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze, accumulating 1,024 points.

Strong showing in the Youth Category

In the youth division, Sharjah Club ranked second. The young athletes collected 9 medals—1 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze—earning a total of 397 points.

Praise for team effort and continued preparation

Engineer Sulaiman Abdulrahman Al Hajri, Board Member and Head of Individual Games, congratulated the team, viewing this result as a continuation of their recent accomplishments. He commended the coaching staff and athletes and emphasized the team’s ongoing preparation for the UAE Elite Championship next week, expressing confidence in the club’s ability to add another title to its record.

Continued support for individual sports

Al Hajri highlighted the vital role of the Sharjah Sports Council and the club’s Board of Directors in supporting individual sports. He affirmed that the Individual Games Department is working with strategic plans to develop generations of skilled athletes who can represent the UAE in international competitions and raise the nation's flag with pride.
