UAE and Türkiye discuss parliamentary cooperation

Sharjah 24 – WAM: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), met with Numan Kurtulmuş, President of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, on the sidelines of the first Meeting of the Parliamentary Group in Solidarity with Palestine, held in Istanbul and organised by the Turkish Parliament.

UAE Thanks Türkiye for hosting pro-Palestine parliamentary gathering

During the meeting, Ghobash expressed gratitude to Kurtulmuş for hosting the inaugural gathering and for extending an invitation to the FNC. He reiterated the UAE’s unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, highlighting it as a central pillar of the nation’s foreign policy.

Emphasis on regional peace and Palestinian rights

Ghobash affirmed the UAE’s support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its dedication to promoting regional and international efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability.

Türkiye highlights growing parliamentary solidarity

Kurtulmuş welcomed the FNC delegation and noted the importance of the participation of 12 parliaments in this first-of-its-kind meeting. He voiced hope that future gatherings will include broader international representation.

Vision for joint action and political support for Palestine

Kurtulmuş also expressed optimism that the meeting would lead to a joint declaration supporting Palestine and help establish a political bloc to advocate for Palestinian rights in international forums, furthering global peace and stability.

Strengthening bilateral parliamentary cooperation

The two sides discussed ways to deepen parliamentary cooperation and coordination on shared concerns. They also underscored the importance of continued active engagement in multilateral parliamentary platforms.

FNC delegation attends high-level meeting

Several members of the FNC joined the meeting, which highlighted mutual aspirations to address pressing global challenges through parliamentary diplomacy.
